Project: Fegans provides counselling for children and parent support for families across the South East. The charity was founded in 1870 by James Fegan, who provided shelter to ‘street boys’. The services have developed over the years to reflect changing needs for vulnerable families. In February 2018 the charity launched and exhibition in Tunbridge Wells Museum and Library, displaying documents and photographs from the rich archives.

‘Seasons of Change: The Fegans’ Story’ needed a strong logo to represent the title, and art direction to reflect the historical nature, as well as the work the charity does today. The branding for this exhibition needed to be eye catching, and bold, with assets for use both in-house as well as by press and collaborative parties such as the council.

Project: The brand identity and art direction for this project also had to be able to diversify to support campaigns launched as part of ‘Seasons of Change’, such as mental health conference, parent talks, and children’s craft activities. All literature was produced for differing audiences, with the same core brand structure at it’s heart, to ensure cohesion and a unified look and feel.
The Process: Working closely with Fegans in-house as part of the Communications Team, a logo was produced for sign off, as well as art direction presented for all aspects of the six-month campaign. This ensured that literature produced was simple to complete as time-scales and turnover of literature decreased.

Literature produced included social media posts and identity, web design, flyers, posters, leaflets and assets for press and third parties.

The Deliverables: Literature produced included social media posts and identity, web design, flyers, posters, leaflets and assets for press and third parties. The exhibition was an enormous success, due to the Communication departments outstanding teamwork, 28,000 people attended the exhibition, and the profile of the charity was increased greatly.

Little Stars

As part of reaching out to the greater community, school groups were invited to the exhibition ‘Seasons of Change’. Branded artwork was needed to engage the young children in a fun and modern way, so ‘Little Stars’ was created, a series of characters and activity sheets based upon the theme ‘Seasons’. The artwork was also used for fundraising during events promoting children’s emotional wellbeing, as well as fundraising opportunities and online engagement with families.

Headspace

‘Headspace’ was created to engage with a teenage audience. After working with a market research group, presenting three directions of design, ‘minimlism’ was chosen for it’s broad use as an inclusive theme for young people too used to being sterotyped. The creation of the ‘Headspace’ book, working with a teen counsellor, was a great success, with 7,000 copies being issued, and more sold online to teens and to parents. Due to this success a further ongoing campaign is in development.

A project developed to engage primary school children and families to ‘grow kindness’, the creative look and feel aims to inspire fun, inclusivity, fundraising and education. As well as branding, art direction and production, assets will also include all literature surrounding the campaign, both in motion graphics, print, and digital assets for web, social media and use by third parties.
